John is an experienced Business Development and Marketing Consultant who specialises in advising businesses and the public sector on marketing issues and working with them to meet their objectives. A research based, management coaching and mentoring approach is taken to ensure that strategies are optimised and are implemented effectively.

He has a particular skills in the development of cost effective marketing strategies and plans and the use of the Internet as a tool to help their successful implementation.

John left Business Link South Yorkshire in July 2005 after six years, most recently working as an eBusiness Adviser within the eBusiness team.

His academic qualifications in Chemistry, Management and Marketing are complemented by wide industrial and commercial experience working throughout the UK both in the private and public sector.

Commercial Experience
His early career was spent with large company working in their contracts section dealing with international multi- million pound capital equipment contracts. He also managed a line of fast moving industrial consumables.

Small Firm Business Advice.
Building upon his commercial experience, John joined a local public sector business support organisation to further his interest in small firm support that he had developed working with sub-contractors. In his three years working as Marketing Adviser there he worked with a variety of individuals and firms. He helped them overcome the weaknesses in the financial, technical or marketing aspects of their business and to capitalise upon their strengths. John is an innovation and new products specialist.

Consulting Skills.
John left the public sector in 1986 to pursue a career in private consultancy specialising in the business and marketing strategies and plans of small to medium sized firms.
He developed the use of a "marketing health check list" to aid identification of company Concerns, Opportunities, Strengths and Threats (COST). Acted as a company mentor/adviser to small firms.

Business Management.
John joined a small electronics business as Sales & Marketing Director in 1990, becoming Managing Director in 1991. This award winning Barnsley based manufacturer of electronic test equipment holds leading positions in its high tech. markets and sells world-wide through a network of distributors and agents.

John left in 1993 to concentrate on working with his consultancy clients increasingly working with them on Internet related issues. John joined Business Link Sheffield, later Business Link South Yorkshire in 1999, to work with their SME (Small & Medium sized Enterprises) clients on website and other Internet projects.

Internet Marketing and Management .
He has developed specialist skills in the use of Internet technologies for business and has created a series of services tailored to meet the needs of those wanting to make cost effective use of the opportunities that the Internet provides. Undertakes commissions in both the public and private sector.
